Pork

Method

Prepare the Pork

  1. 1

    Slice and Season

Slice the boneless pork loin into thin strips (about 1/2 inch thick). Season the pork strips with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Prepare Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with a beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pork

Dredge each pork strip first in flour, shaking off excess, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Ensure each piece is well-coated.

Fry the Pork

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Pork

Carefully add the breaded pork strips to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 6

    Drain

Once cooked, transfer the pork to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Make the Sweet & Sour Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, rice vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.

  2. 8

    Thicken Sauce

In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan with the sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens (about 3-5 minutes).

  3. 9

    Add Spice

Stir in crushed red pepper flakes for added heat and remove from heat.

Serve

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

Arrange the fried pork strips on a serving platter and drizzle with the sweet & sour sauce.

  2. 11

    Garnish

Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions before serving.
