Method

Preparation of Marinade

  1. 1

    Mix the Marinade

In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and chopped green onions. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the ribeye steaks in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Prepare the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a splash of sesame oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Season the Steak

Remove the steaks from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  3. 5

    Cook the Steak

Place the steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust the time according to your preferred doneness.

  4. 6

    Add Garlic

During the last minute of cooking, add crushed garlic cloves to the pan or grill, allowing them to infuse flavor into the steak.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Garnish

Slice the steak against the grain. Serve garnished with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro.
