Char Siu Fried Rice

Method

Char Siu Fried Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the ingredients

Dice the char siu into small pieces and set aside. Make sure the cooked jasmine rice is cooled to avoid clumping. Beat the eggs in a bowl and set aside.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

    Cook the eggs

Add the beaten eggs to the skillet and scramble until fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  4. 4

    Stir-fry the vegetables

In the same skillet, add the frozen peas and carrots. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until heated through.

  5. 5

    Add rice and char siu

Add the cooked jasmine rice and diced char siu to the skillet. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.

  6. 6

Mix in the eggs and season

Add the scrambled eggs back into the skillet along with sliced green onions, salt, and pepper. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until everything is heated through.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve the char siu fried rice hot.

Gyoza

  1. 8

    Prepare the filling

In a bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 9

    Fill the gyoza wrappers

Take a gyoza wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper in half, and pinch to seal.

  3. 10

    Repeat the process

Continue filling and sealing the gyoza wrappers until all the filling is used.

  4. 11

    Cook the gyoza

In a non-stick skillet, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add the gyoza in a single layer and fry for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.

  5. 12

    Steam the gyoza

Carefully add about 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately. Let the gyoza steam for about 5-7 minutes until fully cooked.

  6. 13

    Serve

Remove the lid and let the gyoza cool slightly before serving. Serve hot with dipping sauce.
