Method
Preparing the Steak
- 1
Season the Steak
Take the top sirloin steaks and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- 2
Making the Onion Rings
- 3
Prepare the Onion
Peel the large onion and slice it into rings, about 1/4 inch thick. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 4
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold water until you achieve a smooth batter consistency.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test this by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.
- 6
Fry the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off. Carefully place them into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Plate the Dish
