1. Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Add the ground beef to the pot. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the chopped bell pepper and cook for an additional 2 minutes until slightly softened.

4. Combine the Base Ingredients

Add the canned diced tomatoes, drained kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and water to the pot. Stir well to combine.

5. Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
