Main Ingredients

For Sauteed Onions

Method

Preparation of Hamburger Steak

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal parts and shape each portion into a patty about 1 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the hamburger patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Sauteing Onions

  1. 3

    Prepare the Onions

While the patties are cooking, peel and slice the large onion into thin rings.

  2. 4

    Saute the Onions

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter and olive oil. Once melted, add the sliced onions. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized.

  3. 5

    Add Broth and Sauce

Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet with the onions. Stir well and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.

  4. 6

    Combine with Patties

Place the cooked hamburger patties back into the skillet with the onions, spooning some of the onion mixture over the top. Let them simmer together for an additional 2 minutes.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Serve the hamburger steaks hot, smothered with the sautéed onions. Enjoy your meal!
