Finger Steaks

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Slice the beef sirloin steak into thin strips, about 1 inch wide. This will help them cook evenly and become crispy.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk the dry ingredients together until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Add Water

Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking continuously until you achieve a smooth batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil is ready when it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Batter the Steak Strips

Dip each strip of steak into the batter, ensuring it is completely coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the Finger Steaks

Carefully place the battered steak strips into the hot oil, a few at a time. Avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Once cooked, remove the finger steaks from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
