Cake Preparation

Melt the Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and bittersweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- 3
Mix the Batter
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture, stirring until smooth. Sift in the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
- 4
Fill the Ramekins
Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet for easier handling.
- 5
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft. Do not overbake.
- 6
Cool and Serve
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges, then invert onto plates. Serve immediately with scoops of vanilla ice cream and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
