Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Start by trimming any excess fat from the beef tenderloin. Pat the meat dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear.

  2. 2

    Season the Beef

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Rub this seasoning mix evenly over the entire surface of the beef tenderloin.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Sear the Beef

Add the beef tenderloin to the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting the cooking time based on your desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Optional Garnish

If using, add a sprig of fresh rosemary and a tablespoon of butter to the pan during the last minute of cooking for added flavor. Spoon the melted butter over the beef.

Resting

  1. 6

    Rest the Beef

Remove the beef from the skillet and allow it to rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Slice the beef tenderloin into medallions and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked queen cut!
