Caesar Dressing
Method
Preparing the Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Chop Romaine
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Grate Parmesan Cheese
Using a box grater or a food processor, grate the parmesan cheese until you have about 0.5 cups.
- 3
Prepare Croutons
If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade, cut bread into cubes, drizzle with olive oil, and toast in a 350°F (175°C) oven until golden brown.
Making the Caesar Dressing
- 4
Prepare Garlic and Anchovies
Mince the garlic cloves and chop the anchovy fillets into small pieces.
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, whisk together minced garlic, chopped anchovies, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and olive oil until smooth.
- 6
Season the Dressing
Add salt and black pepper to the dressing mixture. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Assembling the Salad
- 7
Combine Salad Ingredients
In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce, grated parmesan cheese, and croutons.
- 8
Dress the Salad
Drizzle the prepared Caesar dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine, ensuring all ingredients are well coated.
- 9
Serve
Divide the salad into serving bowls and serve immediately, garnished with extra parmesan if desired.
