Toppings
Method
Prepare the Burger Patties
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties, making a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cook the Bacon
- 3
Fry the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the hickory-smoked bacon slices until crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
Cook the Burgers
- 4
Grill the Patties
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- 5
Add Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assemble the Burgers
- 6
Prepare the Buns
Toast the burger buns on the grill or in the toaster until golden brown.
- 7
Build the Burger
Spread a generous amount of sweet & spicy BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Layer with lettuce, a burger patty with melted cheese, crispy bacon, and a slice of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
