Vermicelli Noodles
Nuoc Cham Sauce
Method
Vermicelli Noodles Preparation
- 1
Cook Vermicelli Noodles
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the vermicelli noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually around 4-6 minutes until tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Prepare Vegetables
While the noodles are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the cucumber into thin strips. Rinse the bean sprouts under cold water and drain well.
- 3
Crispy Shallots
If you are making crispy shallots from scratch, thinly slice shallots and fry them in hot oil until golden brown. Remove from oil and let them drain on paper towels. If using store-bought, simply measure out the required amount.
Nuoc Cham Sauce Preparation
- 4
Mix Nuoc Cham
In a small bowl, combine the fish sauce, water, sugar, lime juice, and minced garlic. Stir until sugar is dissolved. If using chili, add it to taste for an extra kick.
Assembly
- 5
Assemble the Dish
Once the noodles are cooked and drained, divide them into serving bowls. Top with lettuce, cucumber strips, bean sprouts, and crispy shallots. Drizzle Nuoc Cham sauce generously over the top.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately while the noodles are warm, allowing guests to mix the ingredients together as they enjoy.
