Method

Pork Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red food coloring. Mix well. Cut the pork shoulder into thin slices and add to the marinade. Stir to coat the pork evenly and cover. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Cooking the Rice

  1. 2

    Prepare the Jasmine Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.

Cooking the Pork

  1. 3

    Cook the Pork

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Remove the pork from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and add it to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the pork is browned and cooked through. Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Cooking the Chinese Sausage

  1. 4

    Prepare the Chinese Sausage

While the pork is cooking, slice the Chinese sausage into thin rounds. In a separate small pan, cook the sausage over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes until slightly crispy. Set aside.

Plating

  1. 5

    Serve the Dish

Fluff the jasmine rice with a fork and divide it among serving plates. Top with the cooked pork and pour the thickened sauce over it. Add the crispy Chinese sausage on top and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
