Method

Cooking Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice with 4.5 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed.

Cooking Eggs

  1. 2

    Cook the Eggs

In a pot, bring water to a boil. Once boiling, gently add the eggs. Boil for 6 minutes for a soft-boiled effect. Remove the eggs and place them in ice water to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, peel and set aside.

Preparing Meats

  1. 3

Cook Char Siu and Chinese Sausage

In a grill pan or on a barbecue, grill the char siu BBQ pork until caramelized and heated through, about 5-7 minutes. Slice the Chinese sausage and pan-fry until slightly crispy, about 3-5 minutes.

Making Peanut Gravy

  1. 4

    Prepare Peanut Gravy

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of peanut butter, 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 cup of coconut milk, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 teaspoon of chili flakes, and 1 cup of water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until smooth and heated through, about 5-7 minutes.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 5

    Plate the Khao Moo Dang

On a plate, serve a portion of cooked rice, top with sliced char siu BBQ pork, crispy Chinese sausage, and halved 6-minute eggs. Drizzle generously with peanut gravy, and garnish with chopped cilantro and toasted peanuts.
