Marinade

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, combine coconut milk, turmeric powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, red chili flakes, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Lemongrass

Trim the ends of the lemongrass stalks and bruise them with the back of a knife to release their flavor. Cut into 2-3 inch pieces and add to the marinade.

  3. 3

    Marinate the Beef

Slice the beef sirloin into 1-inch thick strips and add to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight.

Jaew Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Jaew Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine chili powder, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and toasted rice powder. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well blended.

  2. 5

    Add Cilantro

Fold in the chopped cilantro into the jaew sauce and set aside for serving.

Grilling the Beef

  1. 6

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 7

    Grill the Beef

Remove the beef from the marinade and shake off excess marinade. Place the beef strips on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 8

    Rest the Meat

Once grilled, remove the beef from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Dish

Slice the grilled beef into bite-sized pieces and serve with jaew sauce on the side.
