Wonton Wrappers

For Frying

Method

Preparation of Sweet Potato Filling

  1. 1

    Cook the Sweet Potatoes

Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into small cubes. Boil them in a pot of water for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and let cool.

  2. 2

    Mash the Sweet Potatoes

Once the sweet potatoes are cooled, mash them in a bowl until smooth.

  3. 3

    Season the Filling

Add garlic powder, ground cumin, salt, pepper, olive oil, and chopped cilantro to the mashed sweet potatoes. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Assembling the Wontons

  1. 4

    Prepare the Wonton Wrappers

Lay a wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the sweet potato filling in the center of the wrapper.

  2. 5

    Seal the Wontons

Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper in half, pressing to seal. Then fold the corners towards the center to create a triangle shape, sealing all edges well.

  3. 6

    Repeat the Process

Continue this process with the remaining wonton wrappers and sweet potato filling until all are filled and sealed.

Cooking the Wontons

  1. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 8

    Fry the Wontons

Carefully add the wontons to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 9

    Drain the Wontons

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried wontons and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
