Method
Chicken Teriyaki
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken breast to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Cook the Chicken
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and cook for 6-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- 4
Add the Marinade
Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
- 5
Garnish
Slice the chicken and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Crispy Gyoza
- 6
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 7
Assemble the Gyoza
Place a gyoza wrapper in the palm of your hand, add about 1 tablespoon of filling to the center, and moisten the edges with water. Fold the wrapper in half and pinch to seal.
- 8
Cook the Gyoza
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of oil. Place the gyoza in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- 9
Steam the Gyoza
Add water to the skillet (about 1/4 cup), cover, and steam for 5-6 minutes until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.
Steamed Rice
- 10
Rinse the Rice
Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 11
Cook the Rice
In a pot, combine rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 15 minutes, or until water is absorbed.
- 12
Fluff the Rice
Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Salad
- 13
Prepare the Salad
In a large bowl, combine mixed salad greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.
- 14
Dress the Salad
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Drizzle over the salad and toss to combine.
