For the Tiramisu

Method

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the coffee once cooled.

Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

  1. 2

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  2. 3

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in the 16 oz of mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until fully combined and smooth.

  3. 4

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well incorporated.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each of the 24 ladyfingers into the cooled coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long to avoid sogginess.

  2. 7

    Layer Ingredients

In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

  3. 8

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.

Finish and Chill

  1. 9

    Dust with Cocoa

Sift 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu.

  2. 10

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

  3. 11

    Serve

Before serving, garnish with dark chocolate shavings on top of the cocoa powder.
