Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filet Mignon

Take the filet mignon out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the filet mignon dry with a paper towel. Rub both sides with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450°F (232°C). If using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are evenly distributed.

  2. 4

    Grill the Filet Mignon

Place the seasoned filet mignon on the grill. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to achieve a good sear.

  3. 5

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Flip the filet mignon and continue grilling for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness. Adjust cooking time if you prefer it more or less done.

  4. 6

    Check Internal Temperature

Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the filet mignon from the grill and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
