Fried Mushrooms
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the mushrooms
Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove the stems. If they are large, cut them in half.
- 2
Make the batter
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
- 3
Heat the oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the mushrooms
Dip each mushroom into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off. Carefully drop them into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- 5
Drain and serve
Remove the fried mushrooms with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing on the side.
