Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Grate the Cucumber

Wash the cucumber thoroughly. Using a box grater, grate the cucumber into a bowl. If the cucumber has a thick skin, you may peel it first.

  2. 2

    Remove Excess Water

Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out any excess moisture. This step is important to prevent the tzatziki from becoming watery.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and finely mince or press them using a garlic press.

Mixing

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and dried dill. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 5

    Season to Taste

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Mix again to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

Chill and Serve

  1. 6

    Chill the Tzatziki

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the tzatziki to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  2. 7

    Serve

Once chilled, give the tzatziki a good stir and serve it with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a sauce for grilled meats.
