Method

Prepare the Steak

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade. Add the flank steak to the bowl, ensuring it is well-coated with the marinade. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

  2. 2

    Grill the Steak

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat.

Prepare the Tacos

  1. 4

    Warm the Tortillas

While the steak is resting, warm the corn tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable.

  2. 5

    Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Tacos

On each warm tortilla, add a few slices of the grilled steak. Top with chopped fresh cilantro, diced red onion, slices of avocado, and a spoonful of salsa. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top for added flavor.
