Dough Ingredients
Boiling Water
Toppings (optional)
Method
Making the Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center, pour in the yeast mixture, and add the vegetable oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Boiling
- 5
Shape the Bagels
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then poke a hole through the center with your finger, stretching it to form a bagel shape.
- 6
Baking
- 7
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 8
Bake the Bagels
Place the boiled bagels on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with any optional toppings. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove the bagels from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Enjoy fresh or toasted!
