Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the 6 oz beef steak with salt and black pepper on both sides, ensuring even coverage.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Broiler

Set your oven's broiler to high and allow it to preheat for about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Broil the Steak

Brush the steak with olive oil on both sides and place it on a broiler pan. Broil for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Onion Rings Preparation

  1. 5

    Slice the Onion

Peel the large onion and slice it into 1/4-inch thick rings.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Batter

In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and cold water until you achieve a smooth batter.

  3. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 8

    Fry the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally.

  5. 9

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried onion rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve immediately alongside the chopped steak.
