Seafood

Breading and Seasoning

Serving

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Seafood

Rinse the shrimp, catfish, tilapia, and codfish under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together.

Breading

  1. 3

    Bread the Seafood

Dip each piece of seafood first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally back in the flour mixture to ensure a good coating.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Seafood

Carefully add the breaded shrimp, catfish, tilapia, and codfish to the hot oil in batches. Do not overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes for shrimp and 4-5 minutes for fish fillets. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Arrange the fried seafood on a large platter. Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side for dipping.
