Veggie Burger Patty

Bun and Toppings

Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Mash the Black Beans

In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

  2. 2

    Mix in Vegetables

Add the chopped bell pepper, grated carrot, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the mashed beans. Stir until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Binding Ingredients

Mix in breadcrumbs, beaten egg, cumin powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.

  4. 4

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and form each part into a patty shape.

  5. 5

    Cook the Patties

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the whole wheat burger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a cooked veggie patty. Top with sliced tomatoes and avocado.

  3. 8

    Add Condiments

Add ketchup and mustard to taste on the top half of the bun.

  4. 9

    Complete the Burger

Place the top half of the bun on top of the assembled ingredients to complete the burger.
