Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mixing Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing as it can lead to a tough burger.

  2. 2

    Forming the Patty

Divide the mixture into equal parts and form one of the portions into a patty. Make the patty slightly larger than the burger bun, as it will shrink while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cooking the Patty

Place the formed patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and cook for an additional 3 minutes for medium-rare or longer if you prefer it more well-done.

  3. 5

    Adding Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bun

Slice the burger bun in half and toast it lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of the bun, place the lettuce leaves, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with tomato slices, and add ketchup and mustard to taste. Finally, place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger.
