Burger Patty

Toppings

Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 lb of ground turkey, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, 0.5 tsp of salt, and 0.25 tsp of black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions, about 1/4 lb each. Shape each portion into a patty approximately 4-5 inches in diameter.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Add the turkey patties to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) to ensure they are thoroughly cooked.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese (Optional)

If using cheese, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet to help the cheese melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on a separate skillet or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Construct the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the turkey patty, a slice of tomato, and any desired toppings such as ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
