Sandwich Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna Salad

In a medium bowl, combine the drained canned tuna, mayonnaise, chopped celery, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

Lay two slices of rye bread on a clean surface. Spread half of the tuna salad mixture evenly on each slice. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tuna mixture. Top with the remaining slices of rye bread.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Toast the Sandwich

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

  2. 4

    Flip and Melt

Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  3. 5

    Serve

Once both sides are toasted and the cheese has melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Cut in half if desired and serve immediately.
