Tuna Melt Ingredients

Method

Tuna Melt Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna Salad

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the canned tuna, mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, and chopped green onion. Mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Mixture

Add salt and black pepper to the tuna mixture and stir until fully incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Take two slices of rye bread and spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture on each slice. Top the tuna with shredded cheddar cheese. Place the remaining two slices of rye bread on top to make a sandwich.

  4. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

In a skillet over medium heat, melt one tablespoon of butter. Once melted, place the sandwiches in the skillet. Grill until the bread is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.

  5. 5

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet, then carefully flip the sandwiches. Grill the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 more minutes.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove the tuna melts from the skillet, cut in half if desired, and serve immediately while hot and cheesy.
