Burger Patty

Portobello Mushroom Sauce

Method

Cooking the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground Angus beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into a patty.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patty and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the desired doneness is achieved.

Making the Portobello Mushroom Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add butter and let it melt. Add the minced garlic and portobello mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender.

  2. 4

    Add Flavor

Stir in the balsamic vinegar and fresh thyme. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Rolls

Slice the Portuguese rolls in half. Optionally, toast them on the skillet until golden.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each roll, place a lettuce leaf followed by a slice of tomato. Add the cooked Angus beef patty on top, spoon over the portobello mushroom sauce, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

  3. 7

    Serve

Cover with the top half of the roll and serve immediately while hot.
