For the Mozzarella Sticks

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Sticks

Place the mozzarella cheese sticks in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up. This will help them hold their shape when frying.

  2. 2

    Set Up the Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, crack the eggs and beat them in the second bowl, and add the bread crumbs mixed with garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper in the third bowl.

Breading the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 3

    Coat the Cheese Sticks

Take each mozzarella stick from the freezer, coat it in flour, shaking off any excess, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally roll it in the seasoned bread crumbs until fully coated.

  2. 4

    Double Dip for Extra Crispiness

For extra crunch, you can dip the breaded cheese sticks back into the egg and coat them in the breadcrumbs again. Make sure they are well-covered.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately.

  2. 6

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully place a few breaded mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 7

    Drain and Serve

Once fried, remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
