House-Made Tomato Sauce

Method

House-Made Tomato Sauce

  1. 1

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  3. 3

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the chopped fresh basil in the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Main Dish

  1. 4

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, shredded chicken, and house-made tomato sauce. Mix well until the pasta is evenly coated.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese and Bake

Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  4. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
