Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Fish

In a bowl, combine the fresh fish fillets with lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Marinate for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow dish, mix all-purpose flour with cornmeal. In another bowl, whisk the egg with milk to create an egg wash.

  3. 3

    Bread the Fish

Remove the fish from the marinade and dip each fillet into the flour and cornmeal mixture, coating both sides. Next, dip the coated fish into the egg wash and then back into the flour mixture for an extra crispy layer.

  4. 4

    Cook the Fish

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded fish fillets and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the sandwich buns on a skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a cooked fish fillet, slices of tomato, pickles, and a generous spread of tartar sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 7

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half if desired and serve immediately with your choice of sides.
