Clam Strips

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Clams

Rinse the fresh clam strips under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well blended.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Clam Strips

Dip each clam strip into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  3. 6

    Fry the Clam Strips

Carefully place the coated clam strips into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried clam strips using a slotted spoon and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
