Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the tomato sauce, kidney beans (drained and rinsed), chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Hot Dog Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare Hot Dogs

While the chili is simmering, grill or boil the hot dogs according to your preference.

  2. 6

    Warm the Buns

Toast the hot dog buns lightly on the grill or in the oven until warm.

  3. 7

    Assemble the Chili Dog

Place a hot dog in each bun and top generously with the chili mixture.

  4. 8

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, add a dollop of sour cream, and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
