Method

Preparing the Fries

  1. 1

    Bake the Fries

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the frozen French fries on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt. Toss to combine and arrange in a single layer.

  2. 2

    Cook the Fries

Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through the cooking time.

Making the Chili

  1. 3

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Spices and Tomatoes

Stir in the chili powder, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, beef broth, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 6

    Simmer the Chili

Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembling the Chili Cheese Fries

  1. 7

    Combine Fries and Chili

Once the fries are done and the chili has thickened, remove them from the oven and spoon the chili over the crispy fries.

  2. 8

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the chili, followed by a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped green onions.
