Method

Preparation of Chili

  1. 1

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Onions and Garlic

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. 3

    Mix in Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cooking Hot Dogs

  1. 5

    Cook the Hot Dogs

While the chili simmers, cook the hot dogs according to your preference: grill, boil, or microwave until heated through.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Chili Cheese Dogs

Place each hot dog in a bun. Generously spoon the chili over each hot dog, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.

  2. 7

    Melt the Cheese

If desired, place the assembled chili cheese dogs under a broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
