Burger Patties

Method

Burger Patties Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty that is about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Heat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for thorough cooking.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover the grill or skillet to help melt the cheese.

Burger Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, cut the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with slices of tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Finally, place the top half of the bun on each assembled burger.
