Preparing the Burger Patty

Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground bison, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.

Combine Mixture
Using your hands, gently mix the ingredients until just combined. Avoid overworking the meat to keep the burger tender.

Shape Patty
Form the mixture into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty with your thumb to help it cook evenly.

Cook Other Side
Flip the burger and cook for another 4-5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) to ensure it is cooked thoroughly.

Melt Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty to melt.

Rest Burger
Remove the burger from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before assembling.
Assembling the Burger

Toast Bun
Toast the burger bun lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

Place the rested bison patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of the bun.

Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
