Burger Patty

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Form the Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form into a patty about 3/4 inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patty on the cooking surface. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a crust forms, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty. Cover the skillet or grill with a lid to help melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bun

While the patty is cooking, lightly toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the lettuce leaf. Add the cooked cheeseburger patty on top, followed by the tomato slices and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste.

  3. 6

    Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger. Serve immediately while hot with your choice of sides.
