Salad Base

Parmesan Crisp

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine

Wash the Romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Pat dry with a towel. Cut the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Parmesan Cheese

Sprinkle the 0.5 cups of grated Parmesan cheese over the chopped Romaine lettuce.

Croutons Preparation

  1. 3

    Make Croutons

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into small cubes, about 1 inch in size. In a bowl, combine the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until the bread is evenly coated.

  2. 4

    Bake Croutons

Spread the seasoned bread cubes onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, tossing halfway through.

Parmesan Crisp Preparation

  1. 5

    Make Parmesan Crisps

On a parchment-lined baking sheet, place small mounds (about 1 tablespoon each) of shredded Parmesan cheese, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each mound slightly.

  2. 6

    Bake Parmesan Crisps

Bake in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden. Remove from the oven and let cool to harden.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine and Serve

Once the croutons and Parmesan crisps are ready, add the croutons to the salad bowl with the Romaine and Parmesan cheese. Toss gently to combine. Top with Parmesan crisps before serving.
