Fried Pickles Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Add Buttermilk
Slowly add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
