Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes. In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well and add milk, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix until it forms a dough.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Butter Layer

While the dough is rising, soften the butter and place it between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

  4. 4

    Laminate the Dough

Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Place the butter layer in the center and fold the dough over it. Roll it out again and fold it into thirds. Repeat this process two more times.

  5. 5

    Add the Berries

After the final fold, roll the dough out into a rectangle again, sprinkle fresh or frozen berries (such as blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries) over the surface, and fold it over to encase the berries.

  6. 6

    Shape and Bake

Cut the dough into squares and place them in a greased muffin tin. Let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
