Fried Calamari
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Marinate
Place the calamari in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 5
Dredge the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk and allow any excess to drip off. Dredge them in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried calamari and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce.
