Method

Pulled Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with BBQ rub thoroughly, ensuring even coverage.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Place the rubbed pork shoulder into a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart.

  3. 3

    Pull the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker, let it rest for a few minutes, then shred with two forks.

Coleslaw

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

Finely shred the green cabbage and carrots using a grater or food processor.

  2. 5

    Mix the Coleslaw Dressing

In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  3. 6

    Combine the Slaw

Add the shredded cabbage and carrots into the dressing mix. Toss until all vegetables are well coated. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Slice the sandwich buns in half. Layer pulled pork, a slice of Monterey Jack cheese, and pickles on the bottom half of the bun. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Buffet

Set up the pulled pork, coleslaw, kettle chips, BBQ sauce, and ranch dressing on a buffet table. Let guests assemble their own sandwiches and enjoy!
