Fried Pickles

Jalapeño Ranch Dipping Sauce

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the batter adhere better.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.

  4. 4

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it is well coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickle slices into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain the Pickles

Once golden brown, remove the fried pickles from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Sprinkle with additional salt if desired.

Jalapeño Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Prepare the Sauce

In a bowl, combine the ranch dressing, minced jalapeños, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Mix well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

  2. 8

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust the jalapeño amount to your desired spice level.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with the jalapeño ranch dipping sauce on the side.
