Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Phyllo Dough
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Carefully unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out.
- 2
Make the Nut Filling
In a bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, chopped pecans, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well.
- 3
Assemble the Baklava
Brush a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter. Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each layer with melted butter. Spread a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo. Repeat the layering process until you use all the nut mixture, finishing with 8 layers of phyllo on top, brushed with butter.
- 4
Bake the Baklava
Cut the assembled baklava into diamond shapes with a sharp knife. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
- 5
Prepare the Syrup
While the baklava is baking, combine honey and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until combined and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- 6
Finish the Baklava
Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the warm honey-cream mixture over the hot baklava. Let it cool completely before serving.
