Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Add Salt

Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  3. 3

    Cook Pasta

Add 8 cups of spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.

Cooking Seafood

  1. 5

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of butter.

  2. 6

    Sauté Garlic

Add 4 tablespoons of minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Seafood

Add 1 lb of shrimp and 1 lb of scallops to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp are pink and the scallops are opaque.

  4. 8

    Season Sauce

Stir in 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and season with black pepper to taste.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the seafood and sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta in the sauce.

  2. 10

    Add Reserved Pasta Water

If the pasta seems dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time, stirring until you reach the desired consistency.

  3. 11

    Garnish

Sprinkle 1 cup of chopped parsley over the pasta and toss to combine.
