Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribeye Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps in cooking the steak evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  4. 4

    Add Garlic and Steak

Add the garlic cloves (smashed) to the pan, followed by the ribeye steak. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  5. 5

    Flip and Baste

Flip the steak over and add the butter to the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 7

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into quarters.

  2. 8

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the quartered potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until tender.

  3. 9

    Add Garlic

In the last 5 minutes of boiling, add the garlic cloves to the pot to soften them.

  4. 10

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return them to the pot. Mash them together until smooth.

  5. 11

    Mix in Butter and Cream

Add the butter and heavy cream to the mashed potatoes. Stir until well combined and creamy.

  6. 12

    Season the Mashed Potatoes

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix again and serve hot alongside the ribeye steak.
